RAMS and cabling in occupied premises

How data cabling works in live offices: access, out-of-hours trade-offs, clean-as-you-go and the documents facilities should request.

Occupied floors are normal commercial work — they are not an excuse for chaos. Facilities and construction PMs should expect a calm method, not heroics.

Access and permits

Confirm landlord rules, fire routes, lift bookings and noisy-work windows before mobilisation. Cabling that blocks egress is a non-starter.

Out-of-hours trade-offs

Evening and weekend work reduces staff disruption and often increases cost and fatigue risk. Put the trade-off in the quote assumptions.

Clean-as-you-go

Dust, offcuts and open baskets in circulation spaces destroy trust faster than a late outlet. Method statements should say how the floor is left each day.

Documents to request

Company details, insurance, RAMS/method for the specific site type, and a clear escalation path. Our posture is summarised on Compliance and in the capability statement.
